The effects of RA on our bodies has been discused many times. One of the subjects is the effect on the cardiovascular system. I am having planned surgery to bypass a blocked stent in my illiac artery on 5th Jan. I know that hardening of the arteries runs in families as it does in mine but I do wonder if the RA has not helped either. I'm hoping that when I get back on my feet again I wiil be able to have a fitter year. Glenys.

Hi Glenys

Really sorry you are going for surgery on Tuesday - hope and pray it all goes well and you will be back to your normal, happy, cheeky self very quickly!!

I can't answer your question, but with RA I don't think you can ever rule anything out, as it can affect every part of the body and every system.

Please let us know how you get on, and I will be thinking about you on Tuesday.

Much love to you

Jeanxxxx

Hi Glenys,
Sorry to hear you need this op.
Jean is right, you probably can't rule out the RA contributing towards it.
Hope it goes well for you.

Love, Doreen xx

hope it goes well on tuesday.

I do know that CRP levels that are high are linked to heart conditions and also that high cholesterol levels are formally linked with active long term RA.

So I wonder if this artery business would fit in with this?

Hi Glenys,

Wishing you all the best with your OP and a speedy recovery.

Regarding the link between RA and the heart I have read something similar and would not be surprised if the 2 are linked, but please try not to think about this too much.

Take Care,

Love,

Barbara

Hello Jean, it's a strange request, you're not thinking of sky diving past the window are you. As much as I would like that I would hate for you to get a chill with it being so cold. I will be in the Q. M C. Derby Road, Nottingham, NG7 2UH. ward E 16. Thanks Barbara, it is hard not to look for a reason for things that keep going wrong, I suppose it could just be rotten bad luck. It's just that I have always enjoyed an active life, keeping fit, enjoying sport and eating healthily then along came RA Fibro and now this sometimes it can be difficult to stay positive. Thanks again everyone for your kind support. Glenys. x
